Brett Kern (Pittsburgh, PA) - Guest at Jen Allen’s studio

Brett began his higher education at California University of Pennsylvania. After receiving his BFA, Brett attended West Virginia University for graduate school with a focus in ceramics. During that time, he spent a semester starting in China at the Jingdezhen Ceramics Institute. After school, Brett moved west to be a long-term resident at Red Lodge Clay Center in Montana. After Montana, for six years, Brett taught ceramics and sculpture at Davis and Elkins college in Elkins, West Virginia. In the summer of 2017, Brett resigned from his teaching position to pursue life as a full-time artist. Brett now lives and makes work from his home in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. 

Brett shows his work regionally and nationally. You can visit his work at the Carnegie Museum of Art, Society for Contemporary Craft, Black Book Gallery, Lilstreet Gallery, Form and Concept Gallery and Red Lodge Clay Center among others. He has shown work in the Archie Bray, Beyond the Brickyard show and Contemporary Ceramics 2017 at the Dairy Barn Arts Center.
