Brooke Millecchia (Fairport, NY) - Guest at Jamie Lester’s Studio
Brooke spent the first half of childhood in the mountains of Colorado and the second half in Central New Jersey. After graduating from high school, she moved to Morgantown, WV, and completed her BFA in ceramics at WVU, in 1995. While Brooke and her husband Matt were raising their family, she stayed close to home, making work in her studio and teaching ceramics at local craft centers. She has been a ceramics instructor since 2004 and has taught at numerous craft schools in Upstate NY and served as an adjunct professor at Nazareth College. She is an ongoing Artist in Residence teacher at Fairport High School and mentors advanced students who have chosen to make pottery a career. She has given numerous workshops on surface design, handbuilding and brush making, in NY, WV and PA.
Her work has appeared nationally, with recent invitationals, including the Functional Ceramics Exhibition at Wayne Center for Craft (OH), Worcester Pottery Invitational (MA), and the Gallery Expo at NCECA (PA) (MN). Recent selected gallery exhibitions have been on view at Charlie Cummings Gallery (FL), Companion Gallery (TN), and Carbondale Clay Center (CO). She is affiliated with numerous galleries along the East Coast, including In Tandem Gallery (NC), Gandee Gallery (NY), and Plough Gallery (GA). Her solo exhibition settings have included Flower City Arts Center, in Rochester, NY, Plough Gallery in Tifton, GA, and her solo appearance at Clayscapes, in Syracuse, NY, will be the gallery’s highlight of 2019.
Brooke currently works in her studio in Fairport, NY, producing altered functional forms with detailed surface design.
