Meet host Jen Allen!

Jen’s 2023 guests are Meredith Host, Alex Watson, and West Virginia University Printmaking.

Jen Allen is a studio potter and educator who lives and works in Morgantown, WV with her artist husband, Shoji Satake and their two young children. Jen holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree from Indiana University and a BFA from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. Among her achievements, Jennifer was awarded the 2006-2007 Taunt Fellowship and Residency at the Archie Bray Foundation and was recognized as an emerging artist at the 2008 NCECA Conference. Her studio work draws inspiration from holiday meals (specifically, Thanksgiving dinner at her grandmother’s house in rural Virginia), the Alaskan landscape, historical ceramics, Asian textiles, and post war designs. Her studio is located off of Summers School Road.

Jennifer’s work has evolved over the years. Aside from her slab built pottery, Jennifer also creates ceramic jewelry, architectural vases exclusively for FLW’s Fallingwater, and faux taxidermy heads. No matter what she is making, her focus is to bring sentiments of comfort and joy to those that live with her work. Find out more about Jen and her work by visiting the links below.
